Maybe it's weird but it took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to remove Outlook 2010 email account. Let me show you how to do it then: Go to Backstage view in Outlook by clicking File in the top-left corner. Select your account, click Account settings below, then Account settings once again (Fig.1.).

If you used earlier versions of Outlook, a well-known dialog box will appear (Fig.2.). Select your account and click Remove.

Wouldn't it be easier to add an option to remove this account in Step 2? I thought I could right-click on my account and select Remove in Backstage view.
Here's a video that shows the procedure step by step:

Thanks sumit!
Fantastic! This has been doing my head in for way too long. You are a legend. Thankyou so much from "downunder".
Ok, I got the old email address out of the account setting, but it still shows up in outlook express above my new address. It also shows up when I start typing in my new address, because it starts with the same first two letters. How do I make the old address account disappear from every where? We know longer have this ISP Account. Thanks
Hi KJ
It's the autocomplete stored in *.nk2 file that remebers your email address as well as emails of other people you've been corresponding with. Try doing the following (as desribed by Microsoft):
Open a new email message. Type the first few characters of name or email address. When autocomplete shows the entry, move your cursor over the name until it becomes highlighted. (don't click the name yet). When the ?X? icon appears next to the highlighted name, click X to remove the name from the list.
This should help.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Your guide was quick, easy to follow and a god-send
