Quite often when copying text inside Outlook or between Outlook and another application, the text is formatted in the destination not the way we wish. Although when copying and pasting the text you are given the option in a dropdown menu to select the formatting for the pasted text in the destination, doing so everytime the text is pasted to Outlook is a bit confusing. Here is the tip how to change it permanently.
Go to Tools/Options/Mail Format tab, click Editor options/Advanced tab. Scroll down to Cut, copy and paste section. (Fig. 1).

As you can see in the image above, Outlook gives the opportunity to set the formatting for different scenarios e.g. pasting in the same e-mail, between emails and pasting from other applications.

Great, except that you didn't tell people which setting actually works. I've found that no matter what you choose in the top four drop-down lists, the pasted text from another program (in Outlook 2010, anyway) is still Calibri by default. The only way I've found to paste plain text by default (that picks up the formatting of your message) is to mark the Show Paste Options buttons checkbox. Just paste as you would normally, and your next keystroke dismisses the Paste Options stuff.
