Microsoft Outlook troubleshooting

On a number of occasions Microsoft Outlook cannot be started. An error message appears then: “The application cannot be started: the application’s window cannot be open.” The reason for that may be a corrupt mail profile used in Microsoft Outlook. In order to run the application, a new mail profile must be created.

To do that:

Step 1.

Click on Start, Control Panel.

Step 2.

Select Mail, then Show profiles.

Step 3.

A list of created Outlook profiles will be displayed.

Click on Add, then enter a name for the new profile.

Step 4.

In the window with profile list mark Always use this profile option, and select the newly created profile.

Now you can start your Microsoft Outlook on the newly created profile. It will be necessary to configure it anew, as settings are not remembered when switching between profiles.

Your process for creating a new profile and accessing my current Inbox worked great! Thanks!! Now, how do I get to all the emails that I saved in the other profile? Lots of history there that I want to recover. Thanks.

Hi Jim, I'm glad I could help. After switching to the new profile in Outlook, you will have an option where you can choose to create a new PST file, or attach your original PST file. You will need to point to it's location, by default it's C:UsersAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook.
