The add-ins and the extensions for Microsoft Outlook may cause problems with Outlook stability and even with opening the email client. In such case you can find helpful running the program using the Command lines switches. It allows you to disable some features of the program for diagnostic purposes. There are two methods of using the switches - in menu Run or in the shortcut of the program.
To run Outlook with the switch using menu Run you need to give the full path to outlook.exe file in the Open field and after the space type the slash and the switch (Fig. 1).

In case Outlook is a default email client you don't have to give the full path, just type outlook.exe and the switch.
The second method is to add the switch to the path of the shortcut. Right click on the shortcut and choose Properties. Go to the Shortcut tab and type required switch at the end of the path in the Target field (Fig. 2).

Additionally you can run Outlook in the safe mode by holding the Ctrl key and then double clicking on Outlook icon.
