Too many files attached at once error in MS Outlook 2010

Normally you can select a large number of files from your local drive to insert as attachments in your message without an issue. However there is one situation when the user of Outlook 2010 receives the following error (Fig.1.).

It can happen when you attach files to an email messages and the files are located on a network drive. In this case you are limited to selecting 20 files at a time. If you select more than 20, you'll receive above error message.
